Apple has acquired Israel’s PrimeSense an Israeli firm that specialises in making 3D motion detection technology.
The deal between Apple and PrimeSense is priced at $360 million, according to AllThingsD.
“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans,” a company spokeswoman Kristin Huguet told Reuters.
The Israel’s company produces three-dimensional sensing and machine-vision technology that enables consumer digital devices to see the environment around them.
PrimeSense had raised upward of $80 million in funding from firms such as Silver Lake Sumeru, Canaan Partners, Gemini Israel and Genesis Partners.
