Indian Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal has informed that India is planning to regulate the Social Media sites, and he said that Facebook and Google are not cooperating with his earlier request of manually screening the Social Media user content.
India has taken this decision as some of the images and content on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Google are extremely offensive to the religious sentiments of people of India.
“We will not allow the Indian sentiments and religious sentiments of large sections of the community to be hurt,” said Mr Sibal .
He also said that the Indian government was working on guidelines to monitor user content and prevent offensive material from being posted online.
And, he explained that is NOT an attempt at censorship.
India has 28 million Facebook accounts.
