Google tops the list of most visited Web brand in US: Nielsen

Google has topped the most visited Web brand in US, second being followed by Social Networking giant Facebook.

In a recent study conducted by Neilsen , Google has edged out Facebook to retain the number one sought after Internet destination in the year 2011. Google registered an average of 153.4 million unique visitors per month, followed by Facebook which stands at 137.6 million visitors. Google’s visitors also include its Gmail and Google map users but does not include YouTube . But according to Hitwise’s year-end study, which looked at standalone sites, Facebook came out on top. According to Hit-wise, Facebook.com accounted for 10.29 percent of all U.S. visits, while Google.com accounted for 7.7 percent. Other sites that accounted for the next 3 places are Yahoo was third (130.12 million), MSN/WindowsLive/Bing was fourth (115.89 million) and YouTube was fifth (106.69 million).
