Google launches “Chrome Web Lab”, a magic of the web brought to life.

Posted on February 13, 2013

Google has launched “Chrome Web Lab” to show off the power of the internet, especially the power of Chrome Browser and HTML5.

Chrome Web Lab is a first-of-its-kind global museum experience, featuring 5 interactive experiments that make the invisible technologies of the web tangible.
The physical experiments at the Science Museum in London are accessible to the world online at chromeweblab.com.

Web Lab is an interactive project designed to bring the magic of the web to life whilst showcasing the power of Google’s pioneering Chrome Browser and the possibilities it offers.

Worldwide visitors both online and in-museum will be able to make music with people across the world; launch information into cyberspace and see where images on the web live; watch their portrait being processed, translated, and then drawn in sand by a robot; and travel instantly to far away places all over the world.

Each of the five experiments—Universal Orchestra, Data Tracer, Sketchbots, Teleporter and Lab Tag Explorer—showcases a modern web technology found in Chrome to explore a particular theme in computer science. For example, the Universal Orchestra experiment uses WebSockets to demonstrate real time collaboration as people from around the world make music together on custom-built robotic instruments housed in the Science Museum.
