Wednesday, November 13- Motorola today announced the Moto G, a new low-cost entry-level smartphone for global markets.
Motorola is selling Moto G for a very low price of $179 unlocked and without contract. And, Motorola says that its partners plan to offer it for even less.
Despite its low price, the Moto G has a 4.5-inch, 720p LCD TFT display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8 or 16GB of storage, a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2,070mAh battery.
The Moto G looks almost identical to the Moto X, with a very similar shape and feel. The main differences are the front-facing camera and rear speaker, which are on the left of the Moto G while they are on the right of the Moto X.
The Moto G is launching with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The Moto G doesn’t have support for LTE. The Google-owned Motorola says the Moto G will get Android KitKat within weeks.
Moto G owners can customise the phone with a range of different-coloured back panels.
The Moto G is being launched in 30 countries including the UK, US, France, Germany and parts of Latin America and Asia while Moto X is currently only available in the US.
Moto G is on sale today in Brazil and parts of Europe, and will launch in the coming weeks in the rest of Europe, Canada (at Telus and Koodo within the month) and more. In the U.S., and a number of other countries it’ll launch early next year.
