Twitter‘s Al Rowghani has resigned as COO who had been responsible for the social media company’s efforts to revive flagging user growth.
“Goodbye Twitter. It’s been an amazing ride, and I will cherish the memories,” Mr Rowghani posted on the social networking site on Thursday.
“Thank you for being an incredible executive & partner. Twitter could not have succeeded without you,” Mr Costolo replied.
Re/code’s Kara Swisher reported yesterday that the company was “undergoing a major reevaluation of its top management,” and she said that could include a new role for Rowghani.
Inside the company he was referred to as “co-CEO” and in April the Wall Street Journal called him Twitter’s “Mr Fix-It”.
According to the SEC Filling ” Mr. Rowghani will continue to be a Twitter employee and act as a strategic advisor to the CEO. Twitter does not intend to hire a replacement for the COO role, and all of Mr. Rowghani’s operating responsibilities will be assumed by other members of the Twitter management team” .
Twitter did not give a reason for Rowghani’s exit.
Mr. Rowghani, a former chief financial officer at Pixar Animation Studios, joined Twitter in 2010.
