House Republicans in U.S voted to proceed with a lawsuit against U.S President Barack Obama, saying that his executive actions are so extreme that they violate the Constitution.
Republicans in the House of Representatives passed a resolution authorizing Speaker John Boehner to sue Obama.
The vote to sue Obama was 225 to 201. Five conservative Republicans voted with Democrats in opposing the lawsuit.
“They’re going to sue me for taking executive actions to help people. So they’re mad I’m doing my job,” Obama said in his speech in Kansas City.
“And by the way, I’ve told them I’d be happy to do it with you. The only reason I’m doing it on my own is because you’re not doing anything,” he said of Congress.
