Apple has acquired FoundationDB, a Virginia-based startup that developed database technology designed to crunch massive quantities of digital information very quickly.
FoundationDB is creating a new generation of database technology that combines the advantages of modern NoSQL databases with the power and reliability of ACID transactions.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans,” Apple told TechCrunch, in response to an inquiry about the company. FoundationDB has not responded to a request for comment.lans.”
