Apple has acquired FoundationDB, a Virginia-based startup that developed database technology designed to crunch massive quantities of digital information very quickly.
FoundationDB is creating a new generation of database technology that combines the advantages of modern NoSQL databases with the power and reliability of ACID transactions.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
