Apple has Acquired Israeli Camera Tech Company LinX Computational Imaging Ltd. for $20 Million.
LinX has developed a variety of products ranging from arrays of two, three, and four cameras in various configurations and sizes, some with autofocus and others without. The technology is ready for integration into the current generation mobile devices.
LinX said “LinX cameras are significantly smaller than any camera on the market today, leading the way to DSLR performance in slim handsets”.
In future we can expect advanced camera features in Apple products.
Apple confirmed this acquisition to The Wall Street Journal with its standard statment “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.”
Recenty Apple aquired FoundationDB, a Virginia-based startup.
LinX Computational Imaging is a leader and pioneer in the development of multi-aperture imaging technologies.
