Twitter has changed its Direct Message feature that will now allow us to send a one-to-one message or group message to anyone even if they don’t follow us.
Prior messaging feature allows to send and receive messages only from who follow us. New setting that allows us to receive Direct Messages from anyone, even if we don’t follow them. Also updated its messaging rules so we can reply to anyone who sends us a Direct Message, regardless of whether or not that person follows us. A new direct message button now available to profiles on the iPhone and Android devices. We will see it in their profile and message them directly.
We can use this feature by enable Receive Direct Messages from anyone option on the Security and privacy settings page.
There is an account limit of 1,000 Direct Messages sent per day. Once we reach this limit, we can’t send any more Direct Messages for the day. If we are sending duplicate Direct Messages to multiple accounts (including sending the same link to multiple accounts), this may be flagged as spam activity and can result in we not being able to send a Direct Message for a short time. we may need to wait at least 30 minutes without any attempt at sending a Direct Message before well be able to do so again.
If we do receive a Direct Message from someone we don’t want to privately converse with, we can still take steps to stop them. We can either block the user or unfollow them and delete the conversation. If we have enabled the Receive Direct Messages from anyone setting, blocking the user will stop them from sending you Direct Messages.
These changes help us connect more easily and directly with the people.Twitter has announced about this new feature in its blog .
