xCraft, an innovator of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs),has launched a Kickstarter campaign for PhoneDrone which allows anyone with a smartphone to enjoy their own personal flying robot.
The smartphone is installed with flight planning software so that anyone can fly the PhoneDrone. The PhoneDrone can take pictures directly with your phone since the phone is placed on-board.
The free app installed makes us to do everything from telling your phone where to go, how high to fly, stream video feedback to another mobile device, or even have it follow you like a bodyguard while you walk.
The PhoneDrone returns when the batteries are running low, the integrated flight management tool in the app means that you can control altitude and location for your flight path, and you can even tether the phone on-board with another phone.
It is a tedious task to transfer video footage from the drone camera to your computer and share it with friends. PhoneDrone have the files already on our phone and we can use the sharing tools that are automatically available on your smartphone.
Unlike many of the drones, PhoneDrone is as easy to use as opening an app on your phone. It can be charge from any USB source or swap batteries for extended flight times. It is compatible to work with iPhone (4S, 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus) and Android smartphones. It consists of foldable arms for easy transportation. It weighs about 14.5 oz. It can fly with the speed of 0-35 MPH.
1.Place your smartphone in PhoneDrone.
2.Open the Flight Command app, and select your type of flight (mission, follow-me, or joyride)
3.Draw your mission on a map, set your altitude, and, hit start.
4.PhoneDrone will takeoff and fly your flight automatically.
The app will automatically limit your flight plan to remain within PhoneDrone’s range and endurance capabilities.
Some of the applications of PhoneDrone:
We can have the PhoneDrone as our personal surveillance cam or personal camera man.
We can use the PhoneDrone to take steady and immersive videos of your properties – inside and out!
The PhoneDrone is the worlds longest selfie stick – everything will be caught in view of the camera.
The PhoneDrone is personal and you can configure it to be an extension of your smart phone.
Now in this version of Phonedrone, it does not see/avoid obstacles while flying but in future the team promises to incorporate ultrasonic sensors which will allow PhoneDrone to see and avoid obstacles while flying.
