Uber has hired Google’s Head Of communications and Policy Rachel Whetstone for a similar role.
Whetstone will replace David Plouffe, who was Barack Obama’s campaign manager in 2008 and joined Uber in August last year.
Whetsone is a veteran Googler who has been with the Internet company since 2005.
Whetstone is married to Steve Hilton.She and her husband Steve Hilton, until 2012 chief strategy advisor to David Cameron.He now lives in California and is chief executive of technology start-up Crowdpac.
The couple were godparents to Ivan Cameron, the late eldest child of David Cameron.
