IBM Research developed a method that uses deep learning and visual analytics technology for the early detection of Diabetic Retinopathy, one of the leading causes of blindness. Deep learning algorithms combined with pathology insights are used to analyze real-world images of patients’ eyes for tiny signs of the disease.
