Graphene Electronic Tattoo Sensors can be applied to the skin with water

Posted on August 10, 2017

Researchers have designed a graphene-based tattoo that can be directly laminated onto the skin with water, similar to a temporary tattoo. But unlike a standard temporary tattoo, this new Graphene Electronic Tattoo is nearly transparent.
The graphene tattoos work like wearable electronic devices, enabling biometric uses.

It has been successfully applied to measure electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyogram (EMG), electroencephalogram (EEG), skin temperature, and skin hydration.

A bare Graphene Electronic Tattoo is able to stay attached to skin for several hours without fracture or delamination. With liquid bandage coverage, the Graphene Tattoo may stay functional on the skin for up to several days.
