Google has introduced tough criteria for youtube monetization. Previously, YouTube channels had to reach 10,000 total views to be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).
Instead of basing acceptance purely on views, Google wants to take channel size, audience engagement, and creator behavior into consideration to determine eligibility for ads.
That’s why starting today, new YouTube channels will need to have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time within the past 12 months to be eligible for ads. Google will begin enforcing these new requirements for existing channels beginning February 20th, 2018.
Google had to make this tough decision in an effort to regain advertisers’ trust. The restrictions are designed to filter out offensive videos, although YouTube’s latest controversies have involved some of its most popular creators, like PewDiePie and Logan Paul.
So, small youtubers are complaining about these new changes. What do you think about Google’s this decision about YouTube Monetization? Will it really helpful? Share your thoughts through the comments.
