A startup named “DeepSeek” from China has released a revolutionary large language model called “DeepSeek-R1,” which is similar to OpenAI’s reasoning model O1.
These models generate responses step by step, in a process similar to human reasoning, making them suitable for scientific research as well.
Published under an MIT license, the model can be freely reused but is not considered fully open source because its training data has not been made available.
Unlike some AI models that require huge, expensive computers, DeepSeek R1 is optimized for efficient performance, making it more accessible for smaller organizations.
API access charges are also very low in comparing to openAI’s o1 model.
