A French court has ordered Twitter to hand over the identities of racist and anti-Semitic users to the police. This Ruling becomes very significant to the social media world as it is giving more priority for forcing the social media to prevent hatred speech than allowing free speech.
Few months back the Jews students asked Twitter to remove a number of messages which appeared under the hashtag #unbonjuif (#agoodjew), with samples like ‘#agoodjew is a dead Jew.’
Before this ruling, a spokesman for Twitter said it always suspends accounts when they are illegal, or in breach of its rules, but would not hand over details of account holders unless ordered by a judge.
Twitter Data is being stored in United States. So, Twitter is having an option to ignore this French Court order by saying that it will not be applicable for this US data.
