Oscar Pistorius granted bail

Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been granted bail by the South African Court following his arrest for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Magistrate Desmond Nair granted Pistorius bail when the four-day bail hearing resumed on Friday afternoon.

“The accused has made a case to be released on bail,” he said.

Mr Pistorius’s family and supporters in the court gasped and cheered as the magistrate announced he would be freed on bail.

Arnold Pistorius, uncle of Oscar Pistorius said after the decision: “Although we are obviously relieved that Oscar has been granted bail, this is still a very sad time for the family of Reeva and for us. We are grateful that the Magistrate recognised the validity and strength of our application. As the family, we are convinced that Oscar’s version of what happened on that terrible night will prove to be true.”
Case postponed till June 4.
Bail conditions:
– Bail amount is 1 Million Rands. ($113,000, £72,000; ) – Oscar Pistorius can be released after paying R100 000 instalment.

– Pistorius has to inform authorities if he leaves Pretoria.

– Pistorius is not allowed near any airports.

– Avoid his home in Pretoria

– Surrenders all firearms.

– No communication with prosecution witnesses

– Banned from consuming alcohol or drugs. Random alcohol and drug tests.
