The Syrian Electronic Army(SEA), a group that supports Syria’s president and has hacked a series of websites, appeared to have taken over Skype’s blog, Twitter account and Facebook page.
The SEA posted a message on Skype’s official Twitter feed “Don’t use Microsoft emails (hotmail, outlook), They are monitoring your accounts and selling the data to the governments. More details soon. #SEA”
Similar messages were also posted on Skype’s company Facebook page and website blog.This group later tweeted out copies of the message “for those who missed it.”
SEA also posted an image of what appeared to be the contact information of Steve Ballmer,Microsoft’s retiring chief executive, on its Twitter account along with the message, “You can thank Microsoft for monitoring your accounts/emails using this details. #SEA”
Previously SEA has attacked a series of high profile organisations including several media organisations such as the New York Times, CNN, The Guardian and Associated Press.
