Yahoo is going to stop the option to sign into any of Yahoo’s services with a Facebook or Google account.
The reversal began with Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick’Em service earlier this week, before extending to more popular services such as Flickr and other Yahoo Sports brands.
The change, which will be rolled out gradually according to a Yahoo spokeswoman, will require users to register for a Yahoo ID in order to use any of the Internet portal’s services.
“Yahoo is continually working on improving the user experience,” the company said in a statement, noting that the new process “will allow us to offer the best personalized experience to everyone”.
For now, users can still access Yahoo services using their Facebook or Google log-ins. A timeline wasn’t provided for when exactly they will cease to exist.
