On Monday, January 23, 2012 Dasient announced it has been Acquired by Twitter.
Dasient is a security company that was founded by former Googlers Neil Daswani, Shariq Rizvi and Ameet Ranadive.
It has been focused on solving web-scale security problems involving malware and other types of online abuse. In 2009, Dasient launched its web anti-malware platform, capable of scanning URLs and websites for the presence of harmful content. In 2010, Dasient launched the industry’s first anti-malvertising service to protect ad networks and publishers from the scourge of malicious ads.
Dasient protects the websites of leading financial services, e-commerce, media, web hosting and other global enterprises from losses of data, revenue and reputation caused by web-based malware attacks.
As part of this merger, Dasient is winding down its business and is no longer able to accept new customers.
Twitter acquired earlier this month Summify, a startup that summarizes content in people’s Google, Facebook and Twitter feeds and delivers a daily digest through email, on a website or to a user’s iPhone.
