Google has removed a controversial game that simulate Israeli air strikes on Gaza from its Play Store on Monday after a public backlash.
According to Guardian “Bomb Gaza, which is designed for Android phones and tablets, had been downloaded up to 1,000 times since its release on 29 July 2014. Its stated aim is to “drop bombs and avoid killing civilians””.
The other game, Gaza Assault: Code Red are available openly on the store, where the player takes control of an Israeli drone equipped with “powerful weapons” over Gaza.
“We remove apps from Google Play that violate our policies,” a spokesman for Google said to Mashable and also they confirmed that the game had been removed from the Google Play app store.
Several other apps are still available in the store, including ‘Iron Dome.
