Google is sending invitation for an event in India on September 15. The invitation is not having any specific details about the event. It is just saying that “block your date for an exciting new announcement from Google”.
Most of the people are guessing that this event is for launching Android One program. Google had already announced about Android one program during Google I/O 2014 few months back.
Android One is a reference platform. i-e It’s a set of rules that device makers can follow to make low-cost phones. It makes it easier for manufacturers to develop and produce devices. For Google, it ensures that even low-end devices can run its software and run it well, providing everyone with a uniformly decent experience.
A Micromax Android One device with dual-SIM and SD card slots, a 4.5-inch display and FM radio priced at just $100 in India. And, Google is working with few other Indian smartphone makers such as Karbonn and Spice.
Some other people are guessing that it will be for launching Project Ara, a modular phone system from Google.
