HP Chromebook 13 is powered by Intel Core M Processor and priced at $499

Posted on April 29, 2016

Apr 28, 2016 Today, HP unveiled its premium Chromebook laptop named “HP Chromebook 13” , a thin, all-metal machine with surprisingly capable specs at low price. HP Chromebook 13 is designed with Google, and powered by the 6th generation Intel Core m processor.
Measuring only 12.9 millimeters deep when closed and weighing 2.86 pounds, the Chromebook 13 offers simplicity and collaboration in a sleek package.
It’s thinner and lighter than Apple’s MacBook Air.
HP Chromebook 13 features an anodized aluminum chassis, 13.3-inch QHD+ display running at 3,200 x 1800 resolution.
The rest of the specs include: up 16GB of RAM, a 32GB SSD, backlit keyboard, microSD card port, an HP TrueVision webcam, two USB-C ports and a single USB 3.0,and a 45W battery with a recommended battery life of 11.5 hours.

This new HP laptop is the company’s fifth Chromebook, following the Pavilon Chromebook, Chromebook 11, Chromebook 14, and Chromebook 11 G3. It’s the first Chromebook to use the sixth generation Intel Core M, which is designed for thin, ultra-mobile devices. The processor is smaller, which means it requires less power and thus generates less heat, negating the need for a noisy fan.

Price of this new HP laptop will start at $499 .
With a sixth-generation Intel Core M processor, a 13-inch display with good resolution and charging via a tiny USB-C port, this almost feels like it’s inspired by Google’s $999 Chromebook Pixel. The price of the Chromebook 13 is nearly half of the price of the Pixel.
Like other Chrome OS laptops, the Chromebook 13 offers a simplified computing environment, built around Google’s Chrome Web browser. That means aside from some basic file-management tools, you’ll be generally restricted to cloud-based apps, such as Gmail for email, Google Docs or the online version of Microsoft Office for productivity, or services such as Netflix and YouTube for video.
Connect up to two Full HD displays, charge your phone or tablet, access a wired network and connect other USB ready devices with an optional HP Elite USB-C Docking Station for the HP Chromebook 13.
