Facebook blocks ad-blockers and allows users to control ads display by ad preferences settings

Posted on August 9, 2016

Facebook has announced that it will be making it tough for the ad-blocking software to distinguish between a status update and a sponsored ad on the desktop version of the social network.
And, Facebook users can visit their Ad Preferences settings to block ads from particular businesses.

Users for the Ad-blocking softwares are getting increased steadily. Because of the advertisements, the publishers are able to provide their content for free
So, the internet is getting lot of free content that will be useful for the users . But the fast growth of the adblockers is going to destroy this system.
Some ad blocking companies accept money in exchange for showing ads that they previously blocked — a practice that is at best confusing to people and that reduces the funding needed to support the journalism and other free services that we enjoy on the web.
So, facebook is joining the advertising industry’s fight against ad-blocking software.
Rather than paying ad blocking companies to unblock the ads, Facebook has decided to give control to the users about deciding which ads to show by making ad preferences settings.
