International Women’s Day is 8 March , i-e Today, and this year’s theme is Be Bold For Change.
For effectively conveying this message, State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) have placed a statue of a young girl, representing the future, near Wall Street in New York City.
They have installed the bronze statue of a fearless girl staring down the charging bull of Wall Street.
The statue’s appearance on Wall Street is part of an ongoing campaign from SSGA to increase the number of women in leadership roles.
SSGA is calling on the more than 3,500 companies to take intentional steps to increase the number of women on their corporate boards. According to an MSCI study, the companies with strong female leadership generated a return on equity of 10.1 percent per year versus 7.4 percent for those without a critical mass of women at the top
